Sump Pump Repair

A sump pump that doesn’t turn on when water enters the pit isn’t doing much good. Problems can also show up as unusual noises, continuous operation, irregular cycling, or a pump that runs but doesn’t move water effectively.

Professional sump pump repair starts with determining why the system isn’t operating correctly. Depending on the problem and the equipment’s condition, repairing the existing pump may be a practical option.

Signs your sump pump needs attention can include:

  • The pump doesn’t start as water rises in the sump pit

  • Water remains in the pit even while the pump is running

  • The system cycles on and off more often than usual

  • New grinding, rattling, or other unusual noises develop

  • The pump continues running when it normally would shut off

  • Water begins collecting in areas the system is meant to protect

Don’t wait for the next stretch of heavy rain to find out the problem has gotten worse. Schedule sump pump repair when your equipment stops operating normally.

Sump Pump Installation

Some Seattle homes need a sump pump for the first time, while others have equipment that’s reached the point where replacement makes more sense than another repair. Either situation requires more than choosing a pump and placing it in a pit.

Professional sump pump installation considers the home’s water management needs, the sump pit, discharge setup, and the equipment required for the application. The goal is to install a system that moves collected water where it needs to go.

You may want to discuss sump pump installation if:

  • Water repeatedly collects in a basement or crawl space

  • An existing pump has become unreliable

  • Your current sump pump is aging and requires frequent repairs

  • You’re replacing equipment that no longer keeps up with incoming water

  • You’re making improvements to how water is managed around the property

If you aren’t sure what type of sump pump your home needs, schedule an evaluation before choosing new equipment.

Sump Pump Maintenance

Sump pumps can go for extended periods without much activity. That can make it easy to assume everything is fine until prolonged rain or changing groundwater conditions make the system run more often.

Sump pump maintenance gives the equipment a chance to be checked before you’re depending on it. The pump, pit, float operation, discharge components, and accessible connections can be evaluated for problems that could interfere with normal operation.

Homeowners should also monitor the sump area between professional visits. Debris around the pit, unusual pump behavior, standing water, or changes in how often the system operates can be reasons to have it checked.

Schedule sump pump maintenance before the wetter part of the year or whenever you’re unsure whether your equipment is ready to run.

Sump Pump Replacement

Repair isn’t always the best approach for an older or increasingly unreliable sump pump. If the equipment frequently needs attention, struggles to remove incoming water, or has stopped operating altogether, replacement may be a more practical option.

A plumber can evaluate the existing setup and determine whether the problem can reasonably be repaired or if new equipment makes more sense. If replacement is recommended, choose a new pump with the home’s needs and existing sump system in mind.

Have an unreliable sump pump evaluated before another period of wet weather puts it under heavier demand.

Why Sump Pumps Matter for Seattle Homes

Seattle’s rainy reputation isn’t the only reason homeowners should think about water around their foundations. The way a property drains, the home’s construction, groundwater conditions, and the presence of below-grade living or storage areas can all affect where water collects.

A sump pump removes water that reaches the sump pit. It isn’t a fix for every basement or crawl space moisture problem, which is why it matters to know where the water is coming from.

If you’re finding unexpected water around your home, our broader plumbing services can help determine whether a sump pump or another plumbing repair should be part of the solution.

Get persistent water problems checked instead of assuming the sump pump is always the source.

Why Choose As You Wish Electric, Plumbing, Heating & Air?

Sump pumps may go unnoticed for much of the time, but homeowners need them to work properly when water starts entering the pit. We work with Seattle-area plumbing systems and can help determine what an existing sump pump needs or what to consider when installing new equipment.

  • Repair and installation options: We can troubleshoot an existing sump pump or install new equipment when replacement is the better choice.

  • Maintenance for existing systems: Periodic checks can identify problems before wet conditions put more demand on the pump.

  • Help diagnosing water concerns: We look at the sump pump and its operation rather than assuming every moisture problem has the same cause.

  • Residential plumbing experience: Sump pumps are part of a larger plumbing system, and we can evaluate related plumbing concerns when needed.

  • Straightforward recommendations: We’ll explain what we find and discuss the appropriate next step for the equipment.

Schedule sump pump service with As You Wish and get your system checked before you need it most.

Jordan Matthews did a great job on my electrical panel today. My dryer wasn't getting power so he did his magic and even helped me not fall and die off of my washing machine when I went to connect the heat vent. Thanks Jordan!

Incredible work done professionally and quickly by our team with As You Wish Electric! Devon, Ozzie, Peter, Obet and Carlos - thank you so much! We had an old furnace that smoked and sparked when we turned it on. They put in a whole new system with furnace, heat pump for A/C, surge protector for everything and even an EV charger in the garage in less than 2 days! We're especially grateful that they could get us in and get this turned around so fast since the colder weather is coming. Very clear communication, respectful of our space and they even have a really good deal for financing. Would highly recommend!

Great learning experience along with great advice. Had one bad outlet which created my whole living room to be without power. Being all wiring connected in that area, the reason why. The breaker was not involved.
I have a much older house, so I had them also update and add GFCI outlets in my bathrooms and kitchen to bring up per code. All 3 guys who did work were fantastic to work with. 🙂I would definetely recommend .
